Papaya rules ultimately did not rule at Monza. You can’t say you didn’t see this coming. Just last week I speculated as to whether Oscar Piastri would grant Lando some courtesies for the second half of the season to help him beat Max Verstappen in the driver’s championship.
Despite Lando winning pole, from the first lap Oscar showed his Tom Petty tendencies proving no matter what’s on the line, he won’t back down. Had Lando gotten out front on the first lap, it’s a possibility he would have put a spanking down on the rest of the field.
